Differential pressure is simply the difference between two pressures, often also called “delta p”.
To measure a differential pressure, DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE TRANSDUCERS can be used to convert the measured values into analog signals (for example in the 4-20 mA or 0-10 V ranges).
What are the main fields of application of differential pressure?
Closed tanks
The difference between the pressure detected at the bottom of a tank containing liquids and the pressure of the part with the lowest pressure (gas or vapor) makes it possible to calculate the level of the liquid contained in it.
Filters for oil, air, water
When a filter becomes clogged the differential pressure increases and therefore this information allows to monitor their efficiency condition.
Piping
The flow rate of a pipe can be seen as the product of the flow speed of the fluid multiplied per the section it passes through. This equation relates the differential pressure of a fluid to its flow rate and thus makes it calculable.
Chemical, pharmaceutical, food industry and any industrial sector
How to choose a differential transducer?
- First of all we need to understand what the application sector is.
- Secondly, what will be the pressure range to be calculated and consequently the maximum application pressure.
- Finally we need to understand what kind of substances or materials will come into contact with the transducer in order to choose the most suitable construction material (for example some corrosive fluids may require stainless steel).
The Ascon Tecnologic Solution
PT31 – Differential pressure transmitter
The pressure transmitters of the PT31 series combine high performance with an excellent quality / price ratio.
The consolidated capacitive capsule technology combined with microprocessor management allow the use of the PT31 series in all industrial sectors, maintaining ease and versatility of use and an unexpected
economic advantage.
Made to be used at 360° in the process industry, they meet all the standard requirements, of which the main ones are:
Excellent precision and stability (capacitive cell);
Ease of calibration (“smart”);
Integration into pre-existing systems (“Hart”)
Limited fragmentation of scale fields (excellent “rangeability”);
High added value (LCD display and magnetic buttons);
Special executions (flanged connections and with separators).
